I have a '99 E320 (W210), this year does not have any gear or transmission position indicator displayed on the instrument cluster, as in later models.

Does anyone know if there is a wire that changes voltage when the shift lever is in a different position in the shift gate. If this signal wire exists, I could then build a simple circuit to display the gear position on a small LED bar or something similiar. This is one feature that I really miss from my old Bimmer.
