I recently had to replace the ECU, EIS, ESL, Fobs, and I was looking for a way to sneak around my mismatched TCU VIN on my '08 w209 CLK 550, and instead stumbled upon this gem. I could not believe my eyes/ears, but it makes no sense to fake such a thing. So, long story short, if you want to expend the cash on the tools, Eureka! Lo! And Behold! Mercedes-Benz Smart Keys (at least some of them) *CAN* be "cleared"and reused...


P.S. If anyone knows a sneaky way to get past the security on a TCU as far as the VIN matching stipulation goes, or if anyone knows a programming/coding scanner that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, or if anyone knows a cheap, easy (like meeee) way to re-code matching VINs for the ECU, EIS, ESL, please please let me know...
