Distronic sensor programming
I am new to the forum and need a bit of a steer. Details of my vehicle below.
For context, someone stole my distronic sensor and emblem. I bought the replacement parts (lume, emblem and distronic sensor) from Mercedes and had them fitted as they quoted me £577 for labour and programming and just £177 for programming. When I went back to schedule a programming, they are now stating an additional £220 for diagnostic work before programming. After doing a bit of research the question I have is would an Autel computer / machine be able to program the distronic sensor? I've read online that they can be used in a number of different ways, but I am not sure if programming a distronic sensor is one. Does anyone know or have any experience with such a situation?
Vehicle Make - e.g. Mercedes Benz
Vehicle Model- e.g. A Class A180 AMG Line
Vehicle Year- 2022
Approximate mileage- e.g. 2,000 miles
Thanks,
I first went to the Radar sensors control module (SGR) to see if there was an option to code or activate a new sensor and I could not find that option. I then navigated to the Distronic (DTR) module and selected "Control unit adaptations". On my car (2015 SL400) the response was "The selected function is not supported by the ECU".
Lastly, I backed out until I got to the screen that let me select "Programming/Coding". From there, I selected "Programming/Coding" again and then "Central gateway".
I kept selecting the only available options until I got to a list of control modules and scrolled until I got to "Distronic". My value showed "Available". The other choice was "Not available". This is where I stopped, but it appears that you could change the value and select the "Coding" button at the bottom to make the change.
I hope that helps you try or decide what to do. Good luck.
