Removing dealer decal from Matte Magno Paint

Planning to remove the dealer decal from a G63 AMG. Thinking to use a heat gun or blow dryer but I was curious what to use to remove the residue that won’t disrupt the Olive Green Magno Matte paint. Will goo gone be okay or will the oil from it stain the matte paint?

and if not goo gone what should I use?

thanks in advance

I absolutely hate dealer identifiers on a car I purchased. I will tolerate a license plate frame, since I can easily remove it, but anything else I require the dealer to remove before I sign anything.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but a google search might work better than asking here.

Matte blue owner here.

In case you don't know, never let any wax product touch the paint or take it to a car wash. There are several matte paint specific products from Chemical Guys that I have been using for 2 years now, with great results.

Now for the glue residue , I'd start with 91% rubbing alcohol. For more stubborn spots, I bought a professional strength wax and grease remover for my local auto parts store. I've used both on the paint with no damage. Always test on an inconspicuous area (under trunk lid, etc) first!

Not sure if it will work here, but I remove sticker glue using the sticker itself. I just stick it onto a little bit of the residue and pull it off. Kind of like tap, tap, tap. Pulls the remaining glue off. I do this on books, boxes, plastic wrap, etc, hope it helps here. Usually takes all the adhesive off. Try it on something else first to get the hang of it, but it works great. Credits to good old Mom for teaching me this one!

Going have to make a mental note to negotiate no dealer decals or remove them upon purchase. I feel like I haven't seen those decals in years.

Love to hate those advertising stickers.
Just had a thought...i wonder if an air hose would lift it off if it wasn't stuck down too well. Just like packing tape, a sticker isn't sticking well until it is either pressed (hard) in place, or burnished to press all the air out. I'm sure you've seen a box that is taped shut but the tape pulls off easily. If you were to rub that clear tape heavily with the surface of your finger nail, you can see where it's stuck....and where it's not.

I would go back to the dealer and ask them to remove it. But first you may want to take a thick Sharpie and write "SUCKS" over the sticker. They will surely want to remove it free.
