Exploding sunroof??

I have a '22 CLA 35 AMG. While driving on the highway with light rain, my sunroof suddenly *exploded* into a million pieces. Sounded like a gunshot and shocked the hell out of me. Nothing hit me (that I could tell) and I did not hit a bump in the road or anything.
It's sitting at the dealer right now as I wait for a call back from MB Customer Service. I'm seeing lots online about class action lawsuits against MB for this exact issue.
I'm glad the screen was closed, or else the interior (and me) would have have been showered in broken glass. WTF?!?!?

Had a similar issue with an EQS 580.
Mercedes eventually covered the repair AND I had started a lemon law claim while they were still pushing back.
They eventually bought back the car with a small amount of depreciation for miles driven.
It took about 5 months from the incident to resolution. Hang in there and be persistent.
Sorry you went through that. It's terrifying.
But I do wonder if the next class action will involve cracking MB wheels. Sounds like that's pretty common, too.
There is no lawsuit currently in Canada against MB so they had no interest in paying for it.
I went through insurance. It cost around 3K CAD in total. The inside cover/screen was retracted so it did not need replacement.
The break resulting in a rain of tempered glass on us (young kids too). If the driving assist features hadn’t been engaged, I might have swerved.
Submitted a complaint to Transport Canada. They said they track these things and will use this as a data point.
