9G Tronic Service Question

Hey all, new member here. I own a ‘23 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x. It is equipped with what I believe is a 9G Tronic transmission from Mercedes. I was performing my first transmission fluid change and noticed I was missing one of the plastic towers, part number 725-271-61-00-64, “plastic guide tube”. As far as I know, this truck has never received any transmission service.

After some research, I noticed that the tube may not serve much function at all. It doesn’t seem to plug in anywhere, and it is closed. So I don’t believe it transports fluid. I have found one video ever an individual didn’t have this plastic guide either.

My questions are, what does the tube do? Is it vital, or does it simply guide you during the transmission pan installation?

That attached is MB related, shows the insert in the location that you have circled, but doesn't call it out as anything. FCP Euro lists it as.. "Mercedes Guide Tube - Genuine Mercedes 7252716100. A Mercedes Guide Tube has the function of transferring fluid from your Mercedes transmission pan to the transmission to ensure proper shifting. This is a Genuine Mercedes 7252716100 part for precise fitment." https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...des-7252716100

I can’t see how, it looks like a plastic cone with no holes/passages.

That item is only installed on Mercedes Benz vehicles. It is used for fluid level measurement using an ultrasonic device in conjunction with Xentry software.

That plastic tube is just a guide for lining up the pan during reassembly. It's a dummy piece that doesn't carry fluid or seal anything.
If it was never there, it likely just wasn't installed at the factory. It's not a vital part. You can install the pan carefully without it. It's just a helper to avoid pinching the gasket.
