The NAV DVD and all other nav functions worked fine for 3 days. Now the screen says "insert NAV DVD", even though I ejected and reinserted several times. This is the NAV system in the trunk. Is there a potential simple fix for this before take into dealer ?

Try bringing the DVD into a heated environment.

It may be that water vapor has condensed affecting the disc reading.

Just let is sit there for a while. It will read eventually... It should anyways. A lot of new cars do this, let it run for 30 minutes or so and it will magically start working. There should be no reason to ever remove the NAV disc and create this problem unless you are upgrading it.

Find the fuse(s) that control the Nav and pull/wait/reinsert (i.e. reboot Nav). I had similar problem on my previous M5 and this corrected it. If no further problems, don't look back. If it returns, take it to dealer.
