Question Changing license bulbs on CLK430

I posted a request for help on the CLK Forum but this may be the better place. I apologize if this is redundant.

One of the two license plate bulbs on my CLK430 has gone out. I purchased a replacement bulb but cannot remove the trunk plate covering them to affect the repair. I removed the two retaining screws, but the plate appears fastened to the trunk lid in the center, where there is a metal "rivet" or tab, but no screw. The tab does not press, slide, bend or otherwise release the plate.

This should be an easy fix, yes? I just can't figure out how to do it. If anyone has done this before, your experience would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I think the "plate" you're referring to is the "handle", correct? The middle rivet is in fact a rivet, so that means it needs to be drilled out and reriveted to remove the handle.

However, I don't believe the handle needs to be removed to change the bulb. (I don't have my CLK handy as it is at the dealership, and even if I did, it may be different than mine). I think you can pop the bulb holder out, or if you're worried about that, remove the liner on the decklid and push it out (or change it) from there.
