Instrument Cluster Problem

Sometimes on start up the warning lamps on either side of the Odometer don't come on,(in postion 2 of the ignition switch) and the rev counter doesn't read anything, even though the engine as started, you can drive off down the road but the speedo doesnt register or the fuel gauge or temp gauge read anything either and then the warning lamps flash on then off, and everthing starts working like normal. The lenght of time it's faulty varies and it doesn't do it ever time. The cars a 1996 Mercedes E230 Automatic Avantgarde ,wdb 210037.
Anyone got any ideas??? or had this problem??? and cured it.

We can rule out that it's not the bubs. It's a possiblity that your instrument cluster needs to be replace. I'm not sure what they run for, I would check with a junkyard and see if there's a 96-97 E320 around and you can change your cluster yourself.
