99 slk230
engine rebuild

I have numerous questions. I have a 99 slk230 with a manual tranny. I have seen a few tuners that show 2.5 and 2.6 liter engine conversions. Do they bore the engine to that point or stroke it. Also, is it possible to have an auto machine shop bore out my block and have new rods and je pistons put in. If I did that I would also like to have the head and and manifolds ported and polished and maybe put in a larger set of valves with titanium retainers. Granted I haven't found a company that makes retainers or pistons specifically for the slk but I am sure the engine shop can take some measurements and order the apropriate parts. Also what type of hp gains and also do you think that could take enough weight off of the valvetrain to raise the redline. Also, with these inmprovements would it be necessary to have a reprogrammed ecu. Any additional ideas?

I believe that both Brabus and Renntech stroke the 230 engine to 2.5 l. You can check their web pages at: http://www.brabus.com/homee.htm and http://www.renntechmercedes.com/
