mbtech208...i were able to removed the key ignition on a 1989 300CE completely.......

from the steering columm. I must say that it was very difficult if you don't
know the trick to it. But i did find out that it required the key to be put into
the ignition and turn it for me to be able to remove it from the steering columm.
The harness that plug into the ignition also require the key to be put into ignition
and turn it to remove the harness from the ignition. I know that there is three parts
in the ignition. I couldn't able to remove the first parts where the key
put into the ignition (it had a black cover ) Can you help me with that.
It need to be replace because sometime the key having a hard time
putting it it but once the key is in, it have no problem turning it and start the engine.
Thank you...mbtech208.
