Some other info:
This car was previously owned by an elderly gentlemen on Long Island, and I bought it from his daughter and son-in-law. I do have the maintenance records of my ownership and can introduce you to my Indy mechanic who is an MB specialist. He said the car was mechanically very sound the last time he saw it - it has the double timing belt unlike some of the pre-85 models and that won't need to be changed out until you approach 100K miles. You are welcome to do a PPI.
I have just added more photos to the online album, including the interior. The interior is in almost mint condition and is a great selling point of the car. I will try to take close-up shots of the exterior imperfections but it might be easier to see it in person. There are 2 tiny dings, so I won't say the exterior is "mint" (which is a strong word and not to be thrown around lightly like some other sellers), but it is very good for its age. I may have the car professionally detailed soon, which will take care of some of the paint imperfections and bring out a great shine again - the pictures should give you a good idea of the "as is" condition before it's professionally detailed.
As far as I know the paint is original and the car has not been in any accidents - it had an accident-free carfax when I bought it and my mechanic put it on a lift and found no signs of an accident or mechanical/body work. Other issues include the the A/C compressor needing to be replaced - I had the AC converted to R134a last summer after my mechanic stopped licensing/using R12, and it worked beautifully the entire summer. One window (the rear passenger-side side) has not been going up - I have not had that fixed as the rear seat is rarely used.
Obligatory disclaimer: This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SE is sold as is, and no warranty is expressed or implied.
