For Sale: 1988 420SEL, 171,000 miles. White exterior over blue leather interior, sunroof. Reconstructed title, VIN WDBCA35D4JA373706. Runs and drives, DE inspection expired. Interior is great, only minor creases in leather, no tears, cracks, wear holes, etc. Exterior has been resprayed (poorly). Runs fine although I think its underpowered. Transmission shifts as it should. Has nearly new Michelin's on standard alloys. Heat works properly, haven't tried the AC yet. ABS is disconnected. I flushed the brake fluid and connected, resulting in it engaging when car is almost stopped (its disconnected again). I replaced the plugs, made a noticeable difference. Oil also changed. Rust shows in a few spots, has a few dings. I just purchased, intended it for my daughter when she starts driving in a few months but have realized its going to need more of my time than I'm willing to devote to it. $1200. cash and drive it home. 03/07 UPDATE I started cleaning, drove it again. It smokes blue after idling, so its valve seals at a minimum. Plans for DE emission inspection are now "right out". Other new information: A/C not cold, sunroof works properly. Blue leather interior would be in my daily driver in an instant if it would fit a W124. Anyway, $800 parts or whole.
