1999 S420 (W140) Pristine Condition
I am posting this ad to sell my Mercedes 1999 S420. By way of background, I reside in Greenwich, CT and have taken a job which will require me to move cross country. I am reluctantly going to have to sell my baby.
Background:
I have always been in love with the W140. I spent nearly a year looking for this car. My friend, who worked for the largest Mercedes Dealership in the US (Rallye Motorcars in NY) called me when the car was traded in by an older gentlemen. I bought the car in 2006 with only 35,000 miles on it. As of today, the odometer reads 78,900 miles. For all the work below, I have complete documentation.
The car has been babied by me over the last four years. I have spent over 18,000 on maintenance (both preventative and repairs). At present, the right side catalytic converter has been replaced with OEM parts. The car has a new transmission (installed and warranted by Mercedes Benz of Fairfield), which was installed last summer, at nearly $6,000. I replaced the existing Becker radio with a refurbished model last year as well, so the car is intact like the day it was produced.
Last month, I replaced brake pads and rotors (nearly $2,000), including brand new heavy duty shocks and struts. Everything on the car works. Engine mounts have been replaced, as well as front coil spring, which cracked from age. The interior of the car is impeccable. The exterior is impeccable, with a minor scratch on the left rear bumper.
I had Mercedes replace the vacuum systems which pulls the doors shut two years ago after it failed. In addition, I just put new tires on the car, less than 4 months ago.
I can go on and on, but I want to stress that this is my fourth Mercedes Benz. I'm sure I have forgotten many other things that I have replaced, but I wanted to tell you that I treat my cars like my children, and have truly babied this car. I can promise one thing. You will be hard pressed to find a better W140 (the last year produced is 1999), which such low mileage.
I am asking $16,900, or best reasonable offer. If you would like to see the car, or would like access to records and service documentation, I would be happy to show them to you. I have also posted this ad on Mercedesforum
