E55 Wagon-Audi-Land Rover
Well, I picked up the black wagon from Dallas TX yesterday. Wow.. ! This car is in As new condition. The pictures that were on ebay did it no justice I really think I hit the jackpot with this one. Took it tithe Plano MB dealership in Dallas to pick up the service docks. This is the same car that the dealership took as trade in the week before. The service rep was telling me they traded the car for another MB that they wanted for a customer. The service guy & tech I spoke with said you got one the best condition wagons they've seen. They continued to tell me that it belonged to woman who had the car rigorously maintained at there dealership since and fist notisd a thing even after warranty.. This woman must have been small amg light as not a mark on anything from carpet to roof and seats. Don't think she has ever used the key in the ignition must have always used the keyless go as not a scratch around the ignition where you would have thought some ware from putting key in and out. My buddy in CA had an 04 E55 with 8k miles and this car is on par with being as new condition. Body/ paint have no swirl marks that I can see thus far not even a door ding.. Paint shines as new.. Had it sitting next to new MB and thought it looked better shine. No one wheel has curbrash. Only flaw I can see is a few rock chips on the hood. The lower balance has some light scuff marks. I have never cared for the wood trim and was going to swap this out but the trim on this is really good.. Is there an upgraded wood trip from the normal trim.. I ask as this actually looks better than what I've seen in the past.
Never noticed this before.. My Speedo goes up to 200mph my buddies 04 goes up to I tenth ink 170, can't recall but said his is not a 200mph speedo. Did this change on 2005 cars onward ?
Anyways..could not be a happier owner... I'm like a big kid with permanent grin, ear to ear who just woke up on Christmad day and got everything plusher than what he asked for.

Thx

Any new one's recently. I see the one on RonSussex. I'm specifically looking for one with a third row.

My fiance just graduated med school and is DEAD SET on buying one of these.. Im all for it, but I am wondering how the reliability is on an E55 wagon? She is definitely getting one with less than 50K, and we do expect regular maintenance as with any car, but anything else to look for when buying one?

Sounds like you have a keeper

The reliability is fine as long as the service has been performed over the life of the car. There have been many reports of 55K cars going for 200k+ miles with no major failures.

With 193 E55 Wagons and 153 E63 wagons being produced for the W211 bodystyle, I think you will have a hard time finding an E55 with less than 50k miles (and if you do, you better be ready to pull the trigger instantly because there are many people who are ready to purchase when the right car comes up for sale). This would be a car that has been driven only 6-7k miles per year and for an 05-06 E55 this will be unlikely since most of these were purchased as primary drivers instead of a secondary or weekend car like a Corvette or 911 Turbo.

I would be more concerned with a documented service history than finding a sub 50k mile car.

Keep watching this thread since I try to post any wagon for sale that I can find.

Sweet 300TE by the way!

Thanks a lot for the heads up man.. We are going to check one out that has about 90K on it.. Probably not going to buy it because of the high mileage, but it will give us a good idea on what we should look for... Hopefully the right one comes around in the next couple of weeks and we will snag it up..

Your wagon is amazing btw!!

2007 E63 Wagon, 1997 M3
I know this it slightly off-topic, but speaking on durability of the engines, I heard a mention of E63 engines having 2 piece cams which may fail and lead to $$$$ engine work. Whereas e55 engines are more durable and can go last longer.

Any truth in that? BTW, I do have a 2007 E63 wagon with 58000 miles. It did require replacement of 3 pulleys recently.

Just recieved my title for my one owner E55 wagon and done a little research into the last owner as I was wondering why this car was so well kept and looks as new as the day purchased. Well, to my surprise it was the personal car for "Elaine Tettemer Marshall" never new who she was other than the dealer telling me the owner was and older lady who spared no money on service etc. Apparantly she is 70 years old and the 4th wealthiest woman in the USA and major owner of Koch industies. Not that the material aspect matters but is certanly explains how well this car was kept and why I was wondering why it was so nice with little to no wear, also explains why the car was debaged from new. All origonal AMG badges came with the car. Bottom line no need to worry about shady past history...Love this car. Smile every time I drive it

I'm bidding on the 2005 E55 wagon on e-bay. It's quite high miles, but I've always wanted one. What do you guys think? I wonder if the owner is on this board.

Where are you at rsracing? Most of the AMG wagons I've seen for sales are in the East Coast.
