I had a 2003 S55 and LOVED it. It was much roomier in the inside, performance was similar and it rode better than my E55.
Looks like a solid deal to me. GLWS

How did it ride better then the E55? Are the S55s more powerful, or handle better? I know they weigh more obviously, but I'm thinking about an S class for my next car. Granted I have a W210 E55, but the W211 E55 has always been a natural upgrade from what I have now. But since the family is growing I need something bigger. I just don't want to sacrifice power and handling when it comes to getting a bigger car

They have a little more power to offset the extra weight, 493HP vs. 469HP.

They ride smoother because the wheelbase is longer, smoothing out bumps more effectively.

The ABC suspension is a little more sophisticated, but also more problematic.

From my understanding they all share the same engine so E55 and S55 is the same. Some people dyno E55 for 491hp so makes sense S55 493hp.
Every car and every engine is a bit different but S55, CL55, CLS55, SL55, E55 all has the same engine. The main reason Mercedes announced 469 due marketing purpose. E class is the lowest cost one should lower some hp number. Ride quality surely S55 will be better since its a bigger much more comfort than E class but E55 is more brutal force and faster because weight less than any other 55k engine.

Same engine, but different exhaust packaging so total HP in the E55 is a bit lower.

In my opinion, though, I think it feels as fast, if not faster, than the S55 due to lower weight of the car.

I checked they still cover Mercedes. You would have to buy it at a Chrysler dealer.

I do not think that is correct. They killed eligibility for MB quite a while ago.

If you have a source you should post it, as the plans were cheap. But I am 99.99999% sure you can not buy a plan now for an MB, especially an AMG.

The Chrysler dealer where I transfered the warranty gave me that info.

I will give him a call back today and verify.
