Caveat Venditor-Redw20855AMG
For those interested:
Talked to him a little over a week ago. Interested in the E55. Had to drive to Indy the following Monday, so we agree that I'll drive it and meet him so he can see it. (This is after the 'i need you to be serious so I'm not wasting miles on an already high mileage car)
Monday - show him the car. He drives it, we shake hands. Deal done. He will drive up Saturday and pick it up.
Tuesday- Asks if a part cashiers check and part cash is OK. Not a problem.
Friday-Confirm that we're on and the time/place to meet.
Saturday-Get a text stating that he is leaving Indy and that we're on for 1pm. 1pm, 2pm, 3pm....nothing. Multiple texts/phone calls....no answer. Nada.......
Now, this would not be a big deal, except that when I posted a mini version of this story on my E55 thread, I was contacted privately and found out that HE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE!
Seller.......BEWARE!
I'm out in the following ways:
-250 additional miles on a car with over 100K (Not a big deal, but not cool!)
-I told a potential buyer that I've had many conversations with that the car was spoken for and that I'd let him know if things changed. He bought an E55 over the weekend. Missed out on a REAL opportunity to sell!
-Still have a car to sell, which is now consigned locally. (8% to them....)
If this guy comes knocking, I'd say "no thanks!"
