Its paint and bodywork may require minor touch-ups, with repairable cosmetic defects, and its engine compartment may have minor leaks. There are minor body scratches or dings and minor interior blemishes, but no rust. The tires match and have 50% or more of tread. It also has a clean title history, with some service records available, and will pass safety and smog inspection.

The engine in this car is super clean - it has obviously been well maintained. Take the oil fill cap off and it looks brand new inside.

Has had over $2800 of parts and labor the past few months getting spiffed up.
Mechanical inspection,
NEW drive serpentine belt (cracks were in it so replaced),
NEW radiator instead of welding a leak just replaced,
new fan belt,
new fan clutch,
new thermostat,
new stop lamp switch,
electrical inspection and work performed,
replaced center console switches around shifter to make sure all switches were fully functional
instrument cluster rebuild
cigar lighter replaced (still have original just did not have ashtray in it so got another one)
replaced all dash vents and speaker covers (car was in FL and TX for a good part of its life and there were broken knobs on the vents and cracks in the speaker covers)
headlight refinishing (removes yellowing)
fresh MOBIL 1 synthetic oil change w/ Mercedes-Benz fleece oil filter,
A/C refrigerant recharge,
new hood release lever installed,
NO leaks - driveway and garage are clean.
Brake pads also replaced about 3,000 miles ago.
Only remaining dashboard warning lights/cluster warnings is an ABS/ESP which is a 1141 brake pressure sensor which I am currently looking for (current price reflects current condition)

This E420 is in Morristown, TN, USA.

The E420 32-valve, 4.2L V8 engine is also much harder to find than the E320 3.2L V6 version.

Power everything with dual power leather heated seats (w/ memory settings)

I absolutely love this car. It's one of the nicest cars I have ever owned.
Rare Mercedes-Benz E420 model, especially with LOW mileage under 85k

Xenon/HID-type white-light headlights - amazing visibility & safety for night driving.
Runs excellent and smooth. No leaks. Very powerful yet efficient 4.2L V8.

Bridgestone POTENZA tires with a LOT of tread remaining.
Looks very nice overall, but not a Concours show car. A definite head-turner!...
Excellent glass, instrument cluster completely rebuilt by BBA-Reman, USA.(common for this model Mercedes)
You will not find an 84k mile '97 E420 with so much maintenance performed and new parts installed for anywhere near this low price.
The issues:
Seatbelts are a little dirty but have been cleaned.
Center console armrest is creased some and padding is bumpy (common in these cars but did not feel it was bad enough to replace).
Some mild sun-wear on upper driver's side paint (original paint - you can tell no major body repairs as far as I know and as far as title report says - title report below), some paint scratches and typical wear.
Small worn through spot in drivers seat lumbar area from getting in and out of car.
A few minor cracks in dash from sun back near windshield - very short.
Autocheck report below. Verifies clean title and odometer.
Accident in title report was minor fender bender in parking lot as passed on to me verbally from prior owner. Car has small dent in back left corner to substantiate this information.
Must have been small incident as did not bother to fix and paint seems to be all original.
