1993 500E
SOLD: 1993 500E Silver (Los Angeles/Santa Clarita, CA)

SOLD SOLD SOLD. 500E has been sold and is staying in CA.

I am helping my friend sell his 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. As of right now, the car has about 178,200 miles on it and is in great condition. VIN is WDBEA36E3PB939731. The 500E is located in the Santa Clarita Valley just north of downtown Los Angeles. Here's a description, written by my friend, on what has been done when him and his wife owned the 500E:

Asking price is $10,995.

It's my wife's car which was her daily driver to and from work (3 times a week). It hasn't been driven hard in our ownership. About 90% of the miles we put on are highway miles. It's rarely seen traffic. It has a 178,200 miles now. The engine and transmission are smooth. It starts easy every time and has gobs of power (still puts a smile on my face when driven). I did a lot of the work myself in the past but with 2 small kids, it's seen more shop work lately. I've done a lot of nitpicky repairs and replacements even though it didn't need it over the years. We have most of not all of the receipts for shop work and kept some parts receipts. It's been garaged our entire ownership and my wife works night shift and also parks in a parking garage. It's been out of the sun most of the time. It has been repainted prior to our ownership. I would say the paint is a 7/10. It's still has a deep shine, but has a some pits on the nose end and a couple of faint bird dropping stains. You'd have to look hard to see them though. As I mentioned, the rear bumper was torn off in a parking lot while it was parked. I had it repaired at Auto Stiegler in Encino (MB certified). I also opted to have them do the cladding on both sides and front bumper to match the new rear bumper. The engine compartment is not the cleanest, but there are no major leaks. Nothing drips on the garage floor. All the electronics work.

Here's a list of somewhat major items I've replaced during our ownership:
Left and right rear SLS struts, accumulators and sway bar links
Ignition caps and rotors a couple of times now and spark plugs every 30k mi
Ignition coils and wire set
Resealed PS pump
A/C compressor, drier, expansion valve (blows cold)
Engine mounts (done at MB dealer)
Oil pan gasket
Wheel Alignment (done at MB dealer)
Brake rotors and pads. Stainless steel brake hoses
Fuel level sending unit
Fuel pressure regulator
heater monovalve
foglight lenses
Replaced all fuses

More recent repairs:
Transmission rebuild in 2012 @ 152k mi. Includes new upshift delay valve, neutral safety switch, vacuum modulator and pressure cable
Front and rear flex discs
Engine rear main seal
Engine cam oiler tubes, upper chain slide rails
New radiator and viscous fan clutch ( old clutch came apart and took out the radiator which was only a year old)
windshield washer bottle
Front struts and strut mounts replaced (11/30/13)
Front swaybar bushings replaced (11/30/13)
Front control arms replaced (11/30/13)
Replaced rear accumulators and flushed suspension hydraulic fluid (11/30/13)
New tires and alignment done in 12/13 (Continental ExtremeContact DW 255/45 R 17)
Suspension parts are genuine MB parts.
New front and rear brake pads, rotors, and sensors (05/15)

Items done prior to my ownership:
Wiring harness and ETA (throttle body) - I also have a brand new ETA that I bought a long time ago "just in case". I'll include that with the purchase.
Tuned chip ( I honestly don't know how much power increase it makes) I have the original as well.
First gear start module
ASR defeat
Euro headlamp assemblies
Clear front corners
Smoked tail lights
Remus exhaust

Items that need attention:
Headliner is sagging
Occasional bouncy fuel gauge (recently started, may need another fuel level sending unit.)

Other MISC items:
A CD emulator/MP3 player has been installed in place of factory CD Changer. Will include CD Changer
Has factory spare wheel.
Blower for HVAC system was recently replaced.
Headlight switch replaced this past Feb.
Passed smog on May 3rd.

I owned this car in 2003. I did the euro, lamps, wheels, smoked tails and painted the hood. Was a superb car and glad to see it has been cared for.

The buyer was from San Francisco. He flew down to LA to pick it up.
