I have an OEM W211 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Fuel Filter / Sending Unit.
Mercedes Part # A211 470 49 94 (please verify for your application)
This part was NEVER installed. There is absolutely no fuel residue or smell.
I purchased the fuel filter / sending unit* when my 2004 E55 gave out on me last winter. My personal mechanic and I narrowed it down to this sender not priming. So, I purchased this sender from an ebay Mercedes parts distributor and as the weather got warmer we decided to tackle the project and come to find that the nipple on the fuel delivery module* was cracked and the fuel hose that connects to the fuel filter / sender was popping off under pressure; therefore, the fuel filter / sender could not prime the motor. With a couple of fuel resistant zip ties (a much cheaper alternative than a new fuel delivery module) my E55 was alive.
