what is the weight on one of those? I bet that is significantly less then the ML too?

I went to the Mercedes-Benz German website. It now has the ML63 listed. It shows the base price of the ML63 AMG as 96.164,00 euros. Compare that with the base price of the ML500 at 63.220,00 euros. In Germany the base ML63 costs 52% more than the base ML500.
Now I will use that same logic with USA prices. The base ML500 lists for $48,500.00. If you add 52% to that number, the ML63 should sell for $73,720.00.
At that price, Mercedes should sell a bunch of them. It offers a lot of performance for the dollar. 0 to 60 MPH is faster than the $111,000 Turbo S. I look forward to seeing the two compared. I would expect the Cayenne to perform better in some areas. But, the ML63 is looking better all the time.
A poster at another discussion group from Germany said he had ordered a ML63 and expected delivery in March. In an email I received from MBUSA they said it won't be available in the USA until August 2006. That doesn't make any sense....it is made here. When the new 2006 ML's came out, they were available in the USA three months before they arrived in Europe.

I heard somewhere that the first ML63s will be shipped to Europe before units are available in the US

It was mentioned that they might be rolling the ML63 out slowly due to a lack of a large supply of the new engine.
I was told by a rep of MBUSA that they thought that production on any ML63's wouldn't start until the summer. I believe that they may in fact get them earlier in Germany than in the USA based on the fact that the ML63 is already shown at Mercedes German website with all the pricing info. This usually only happens a short time before the vehicle actually goes on sale. So, it wouldn't surprise me for them to start showing up Germany within the next 3 - 4 months.
I guess here in the USA we will have to wait until August.

The question that I still have unanswered is where are they going to do the AMG work on this, the ML, and on the AMG versions of the R and GL? Are they going to pre-assemble or build AMG components (such as engines) in Affalterbach and ship them to Tuscaloosa for assembly (my best guess)? Or are they going to add an AMG assembly unit to the plant in Tuscaloosa(doubtful)? Or are they going to ship completed cars from Tuscaloosa to Germany and back (highly unlikely)?
Inquiring minds want to know....

they will continue to assemble them the same way SLKs and MLs have already been getting produced.
Affalterbach does nothing other then build the remainging 55s and the 63 and 65 engines(if you were at the 2005 AMGfest, you would know that). I bet they even build the 7.3L that I think the Zondas are using in that same factory. The completed engines are then shipped to the US where the already waiting 55s/63s are waiting for there heart.
The ML63s have already begun rolling off the production line, a member on benzworld with "insider" access had cell phone pictures of the first ML63 at the tuscaloosa plant.

What I heard is that MBUSA is shipping as many MLs (AMG and regular) to Europe as they can because the profit they make on cars sold in Europe is very high at the moment due to the cheap US$ (or expensive €) compared to the profit of the same car built AND sold in the US. Perhaps that accounts for earlier introductions over here (EU) also.Originally Posted by PhilS

believe me, I think it would be great to see an AMG factory here in the states... we could have an annual pilgimage to the REAL promissed land, just think, a building with enough HP to get the world spinning in the opposite direction.Originally Posted by ClayJ

When you are talking about the REAL promissed land you should
actually go to Germany. There is nothing more real than the roots.
