August 2006 in the USA
I was told by MBUSA that the ML63 will be available in August. It appears that it may be sold in Europe before it is sold here. It is already shown at Mercedes German website www.mercedes-benz.de. Some German posters have already ordered them and say they are expecting delivery in April/May. I was the first to put a deposit down for the ML63 at my local dealer. I will get their first one. Hopefully I will be able to actually place an order around May.

I never understood why plp spend that kind of money on an SUV. I don't care how fast your SUV is, it will still lose the first turn you get to. I understand wanting a V8 500 over the 350 cuz you tow things but why an AMG? Personally, even if I had the money, I would probably just get a 500 and then buy an SL55 or CLS55.

I would probably be perfectly happy with the performance of the ML500. I just suspect I will be just that much happier with the performance of the ML63. No doubt it will out accelerate the ML500 by a bunch. It should also out brake and out handle the ML500by a fair amount. Plus the sound of it will be worth the price of admission. I think it will be a kick to have an SUV with amazing performance. Each to his own......

Mercedes, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, produced a record 95,558 vehicles in Vance last year, including the redesigned M-Class sport utility vehicle and the all-new R-Class sports tourer.
The German automaker sold 5,400 M-Class SUVs in December, a record month for the company, said Ron Mueller, manager of the sport utility and touring division of Mercedes-Benz USA. The rising sales for M-Class, which in 1997 became the first vehicle produced in Alabama, are an indication that the popular SUV "still has a lot of life left in it. In fact, it's gaining momentum with age," said Mueller. "At the rate we sold them (in December), that's more than 60,000 a year," he said. "That's insane! The M has performed just way beyond anybody's expectations."
Mueller said American consumers are still discovering the R-Class, a category-defying vehicle that combines an SUV with a sedan. Mercedes sold 5,000 of the vehicles during the last three months of 2005, including 2,400 in December, Mueller said. "It's gaining traction, particularly in New York and Los Angeles, and that's where the trend should catch on," Mueller said. "It's a very hot car for us right now, and we've just started launching it in Europe, where we think it's going to be huge. They embrace new concepts a lot faster than we do" in the United States, Mueller said.
The GL, now in test production at Vance, is a full-sized SUV that should have broad appeal, Mueller said. Its projected price in the mid-$50,000 range is $15,000 to $20,000 below the average prices for its chief competitors, he said. "It's going to be a heavy hitter for us. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see it take off the way the M-Class did," Mueller said. The M-Class, a so-called crossover SUV, had a 12-month waiting list less than two months after production started in Vance, according to Mercedes."

I also like being able to pull up next to a nissan 350z or a bmw 330i and being able to smoke them. Its the power, and the "wolf in sheeps clothing" that gets to you. The ML63 is going to do that at a much higher level. With the ML63 ill be able to pull up next to a clk 55 or just about anything with up to 400 horse and give it a good beating. Thats what its all about, my father already decided that his next car is going to be the ML63.. well.. After he pays off the Ml55 haha.

BRABUS M V12
The Fastest and Most Exclusive Off Road Vehicle in the World
0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds and a 260km/h top speed is expected from a Porsche or Ferrari. But thanks to 582 bhp / 428 kW from its 7.3 litre V12 engine, the BRABUS M V12 is the worlds first off-roader with supercar performance. In June 1998, the editors of the Guinness Book of Records appointed this car to be the fastest street legal Off Road car of the world.

0-100km/h in 5.0 seconds and a governed top speed of 250km/h. The horsepower race continues. In 1998 the Brabus M V12 was top dog, but two production SUV's, the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo S, have caught up. I wonder what's next????
