Arrow Oil change on the ML55

Hi.. i'm new here and I just purchased my first used benz, the ML55 AMG. I didn't realize that there's a separate ML55 forum for us enthusiast and I posted the same question on the ML forum. My bad on that.

Anyway, can someone or does anyone have a step by step procedure on how to do oil changes on these bad boys? I do oil changes on all my japanese cars and all of them are similar regardless of what route you take when doing oil changes. If anyone can provide me an online procedure with pictures for the ML55, that would be great! I just want to see what's involve when performing this service.

There was no owner's manual that came with the benz but I already ordered one online and it should be here in the next few days. For the meantime, I'd like to learn more on a few DIY service on the ML.

Any advice is appreciated and I'm loving every minute on my ML55..
Ray

Exclamation Oil Change

Hello and congrats on your new purchase. My father has the mild-mannered ML320 and has the FSS, just like my C43. We disregard the oil change frequency and change every 5K. Here's a couple links you need to book mark. I use the Griots version of the topsider - I extract the oil via the dipstick.

Thanks StapleGun. I also found that same link you provided while doing a google search yesterday. I also signed up to that forum as well and it seems it's quite a technical group.

And since I don't have that oil extraction kit, I'm just going to get my hands dirty and crawl underneath. It also appeared upon checking the oil cap, I noticed there's quite a bit of oil black gunk/smudge collected right around the inside of the cap and on the hole. And since I don't have the service history on this ML, I pressume that the service shop poured the oil on the oil filter location hole and not on the usual spot where the oil filler cap.

I'm hoping to get this done this sunday and per the FSS indicator, I still have 9000 miles to go for the next 1 wrench service indicator. I'd like to be safe for now.

Thumbs up

whew! Finally found the time to do the oil change yesterday and so far, I'm a happy camper. I drained the oil underneath, from the oil drain plug and the oil looked to be in good condition. No signs of minor/major sludgeing during the flush and it feels good to pour in brand new mobil 1 0w-40 on this bad boy. The motor sounds pretty healthy and smooth after the oil change. Now, I'm going to the dealership to get the tranny and differential oil change just to be in the safe side.

Also, in a few months, I was thinking of running the ML55 on a dyno to see how much horses it's putting down to the wheels in stock form.
