Tires for 20" AMG Rims
Hi all,
I'm posting this thread in the ML65 sections as I have on order a ML350 with the full AMG package that includes the 20's.
My questions is: I need winter tires and MB has told me they don't provide or have winter tires for the 20" rims. The tire size is 295/40R20. I have found quite a few manufactures (Dunlop, Pirelli, Continental, etc..) that make winter tires in this size however it is an insanely wide tire and for winter. Do you think it is too wide for winter/snow? I don't do that much snow driving but it does snow quite a bit here in Berlin – last winter there were about 10 days of full snow covered roads.
Anyway –*anyone have winter tires on their ML63? Any recommendations?

While MB does not make or provide tires (except on new vehicles of course), they should be able to tell you the correct winter tire size for your vehicle, and it is not likely to be the same size as the summer tire; typically the winter tire will have a different aspect ratio, e.g., the Porsche Cayenne Turbo summer tire (for the standard wheel) is 255/55/R18, while the winter tire is 235/60/R18, as a slightly narrower tire is generally a better choice for snow. Pirelli makes an Ice and Snow in a 275/40/20. That might be a possibility.
