Engine noise in cabin

I know a problem like this was mentioned in a past thread, but I wanted to start a new one to see if many people are experiencing this or if it is abnormal. I hear engine noise in my car, its starting to get pretty annoying? I had a SL55 before this and didnt have the problem? any one else experiencing this? any advice?

What specific kind of noise are you talking about. I get the slight diesel sound that was discussed a few threads down. The normal engine noise is fairly loud compared to most other cars I have owned, but I assumed that the exhaust was tuned that way on purpose. My 63 sounds almost like an American muscle car. I would like to eliminate the diesel pinging if I could though.

bad fuel?

What kind of fuel are you using? Is it possible the octane is too low? My FX pings if driven hard with a cold engine. It pings cold least with Chevron 94 oct.

My engine doesn't ping (my description of the sound was probably not the best), but it sounds like a diesel at certain lower rpms and I believe others have reported this also. It is not that big a deal. I was just trying to see what type of sound Zack305 was reporting. I use the highest octane available in my area, which is 93.

i use the highest in my area as well, 93 i believe. the noise comes from right under the windshield in the center, it is not a constant exhaust note or something like that, my sl55 and ferrari always were loud, thats not the issue... thanks so much for your replys though
