Oil Changes
Someone told me to do my first oil change at 3000 miles. My last Mobile One Porsche was every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I would think it might be good to get the initial "break-in" fill out of the car at the 2,000 to 3,000 mile interval. Sure, this is no longer crucial with modern designs and improved assembly technology, but it sure can't hurt...

I was told by the dealer today that I dont have to change the oil until 20K. This would be its first oil change at about 12000 miles

I keep checking the oil every day or so and it hasn't needed any until now. Just over 1200 miles today and I noticed a lack of torque low down and a need to kick-down when overtaking, also fule consumption had dropped by 2-3 mpg.
I topped up with 0.5 litre of Mobil 1 and it now seems quieter and more relaxed again, so my suggestion is to keep the oil topped up to the MAX level.
As for oil changes, it depends on how you drive. I would always recommend an oil change at 5-6,000 miles and thereafter it should be fine to follow the manufacturers instructions.
On my track car I change the oil every few hundred miles but that's driven for a large part of it's life above 7000 rpm so it needs it.
