My ML63 vs....the drunk neighbor!!
i just recieved some new pictures from the shop and thought I'd share. Yeah, I pretty much threw up in my mouth a little bit when I saw her 6.2 (or 6.3 as Benz calls it) liter heart just hanging out like that.
Update on the car - the final estimate just came in at $21,646 and the parts are being ordered today. The worst case scenario for getting the car back is 2.5 months, the best case could be, if the AMG parts are easier to find than expected, 1.5 months.
No word yet on what the police/city will be doing with the neighbor but I should have the police report on Friday.
About my street and parking situation, since so many were concerned, hehe. I live in a bit of a celebrity enclave where the houses are old-Hollywood style bungalows and we all have single car driveways leading to garages in the back. The driveways themselves are so narrow that parking in the rear is impossible - I have the ML63 and a 300c SRT8...both of those things are HUGE compared to the access to my garage. I love where I live, I do, but the one thing I've always said I HATE about it is the parking situation. Once, I had a dream that I bought a new house just because it had an attached garage. After this accident I'm surprised I havent been having that dream every night. LOL. So that's kind of what I'm dealing with, desire to live here vs. the practicality of actually doing so - but only my poor 63 has been made to suffer.
**Side note, one of the several celebrity-types that lives on my street is Nikki Hilton, 2 houses away. The morning I came out to find my ML smashed Paris had been over to her sister's house and her baby blue Bentley Cont Conv was sitting two spaces ahead of my car. I was just very, very unlucky and since the neighbor wiped out my car instead of hers...he is very, very lucky.**
I'm off topic, sorry - here are the pictures -

Right now your car is worth 20% less than it was before the accident. Even if the repair is perfect! It makes no difference. A highline auto, with a carfax blemish this severe will greatly impact value. Even an MB dealer will stay away from it because it can no longer be a CPO car after this accident.
You had mentioned you were going to get rid of it as soon as the repair is done. Push your insurance company to buy it from you as a "Constructive Total Loss" My advice...get rid of it now!
Oh man that's just not right!!!! Good god how fast was he backing up !!!? Get a good lawyer and sue the crap out of him!!! I hope it all works out for you!!!!

You should sue his *** for being lazy and not finding a job and instead drinking all the time.

The ML held up pretty well. In fact, somewhere in Europe, the W164 earned the title of "THE SAFEST CAR FOR 2007".
I'm also just staring at the headlights. Man, that polycarbonate stuff really is strong.
