Question Which new ride for the wife??

I would like to get the ML63, she wants a range rover (not the sport) and the compromise is the new 4.8 X5, what to do??

Can I get some feedback on the Range Rover from you guys? Love the style just don't like the way it drives like a truck. Will the range rover grow on me??

I love SUV's that drive like sport SUV's i.e. FX, X5, ML etc....

What about reliability issues with the RRover? Anyone have any comments.

Need help please

My wife had a 2006 Range Rover. I felt it was too tall and did not handle well. She now has the ML63 and likes it much better. Handling is no comparison and the firm ride is better. Range Rover felt just a bit mushy.
Of course the performance of the ML will sell anyone compared to the Range Rover, it is a slug.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm sure the new x5 will not be a bad compromise if we cannot agree.

My wife "to be" just got a new X5 4.8i and she loves it. I must say I am pretty impressed by the way it drives. She originally had it in for the Range Rover but with some research she decided against it as they are apparently not very reliable. Something like 88% of them go back to the dealerships.......plus she was not to keen on the interior of the Range Rover.

I bought my wife the X5, and it has been great. Sometimes I think it handles better than the CLS. If your wife treats her car like my wife, it will be a trash pit and demolition derby car. The X5 is still great, and we pay nothing for maintenance. Got to love that.

LOL, actually she is really good to cars. Parking is another story....

I know that the X5 will be a great car I just cannot bring myself to get a range rover. It's just dated and drives like a truck...yuck.

I guess I'm just spoiled after driving our CLS55. Our FX has been a great SUV but just looking for something new.

I test drove the 4.8 and was impressed also, I really think they did a great job with the x5... just wish it had a tad bit more power.

For another viewpoint:
A friend at work had the RR and for him reliability was a problem. I put 80k on a FX45. Great vehicle but I cant describe how slooooow it is and how sloppy it seems to me after 15k on the ML63. I just can't bring myself to drive it anymore. Time to think about trading it in on a SL550. Thats what my wife wants.
I would look at the beemer. The reviews on the Acure MDX are also very good. I don't think anything comes close to the ML63.

I honestly think all those are great choices and you cant go wrong, but i just leased a range rover supercharged (the large model) and i have to say, i love it. Ive had a g500, cayenne turbo, and now i have the rr. I love the looks of the g, the handling of the cayenne, but the supercharged looks very classy and you feel like you on top of the world when your driving it. Yes, 99% of ranges give problems, but they buy them back without a problem therefore it doesnt matter. I was about to get the x5, but it did not have much legroom in the back in my opinion.

I've always loved the X5's but after riding in Blue Monster's ML63 I say go for the ML63 hands down.

4.8 X5

Looks like we are going with the 4.8 X5. I wish that it had the same power as the 63 but it's still an awesome ride. It is pretty much loaded up w/ a 75K sticker. White/ wNapa Tan Leather and the y spoke 20" which IMO make the ride look awesome!!

Either way thanks for the feedback and I guess it's time to change the sig.

Then its no big difference between the price of the ML 63 and the BMW 4.8
did you ever made a test drive with an 63 AMG?

Good Luck and have fun with you 4.8I

I did get the chance to drive the ML63. The biggest difference was the power but handling is about the same as the 4.8

It came down to my wife saying that she liked the BMWs looks more. So I had to pass on having two AMG's in the garage.

Oh well... never owned a BMW and I'm looking forward to it.
