Is the dyno mode method in the E55 the same for the ML?

On the ML63, to turn ESP completely off is called dyno mode. To do that you put the key in the ignition and turn it only to the first click, or with Keyless Go, push the button one time. The menu in the multifunction display needs to be on the one where it displays the miles. When it is, you push the "R" or reset button (in the instrument cluster) three times and then you will hear a beep and it will show the voltage. Then pressing the up arrow button you can navigate around it that menu and you will see a choice for ESP.....blah blah, you then use the + and - buttons to turn it to the option saying .......on. And youre all done. When you turn on the car, you will get error messages for ESP, BAS, and ABS. Keep in mind though that when you do this, those safety features are completely off and unavailable. To turn it off and put it back in its regular mode, you do the same thing that you did to turn it on.

Too bad nobody could make a simple switch that we could turn on & off.

I don't think they would for safety and legal reasons.

Anyway, if I recall correctly, dyno mode will ALWAYS be on unless you manually get out of it the same way you got in.

I just think it will be a blast to drive it in the winter like this. I am going to try it when we get some good snow.

They are doing it (offering a true off on the stability control) on the new C63 apparently. So I guess it has more to do with customer demand rather than legal reasons.

I wonder if that is something we can apply to ours?

I just got my winter tires but I will wait a little before I put them on. I am curious on how it will perform with such wide tires. I got the Pirelli scorpion Ice and Snow 295/40/20.

Well, may understanding may be off, but the next time you turn the car off and on again ESP will be back to on (in the C63). Dyno mode will stay on until you turn it off yourself.
