it is cheaper than $4k if you go directly to Kleemann...1st off theres no $500 ecu tune that will work good for the engine, #2, I got my headers for around $2700, it is worth it, if you see the stock headers, its like puffing a tobacco pipe instead of opening your mouth for air.

I think if you were to read through the forums... there are a NUMBER of cases of people having ECU malfunctions, even blowing ECUs on this forum from cheap ECU tunes... if yours works great... just watch out, because lots of owners are seeing problems pop up from the tunes some time after its done. Its pretty well documented who the tuners are to go with

The cheapest chip i saw was $750, i dunno what chip you're referring to. I have the Kleemann SC, headers and ECU on a 55 motor, the headers made throttle response and pickup speed without downshift on highway much faster. plus i think the extra $2k for the sound is worth it every bit, especially on the roar of the AMG motor.
