Does anyone have any experience with the new K40 Rl360i or the or the passport 9500ci or comparable brands? Looking at getting something for my new car, the only one I have experience with the v1 which was great but interfered with my last car some what. Sorry if this is discussed else where but I couldn't find anything new on the subject.
Thanks

The RL360i is the most recent system on the market, the Escort 9500ci came out in 2007 however both are great radars I would have to lean towards the K40 RL360i and heres why.

1.it is front and rear radar, 9500ci is front only radar.
2. If you have any car with a vehicle safety feature like distronics plus... the RL360i is the only radar on the market that can be installed on those vehicle without interference. .. I hope this helps.

I will have to disagree due to my area, northern Ohio. We have radar drones that measure the flow of traffic utilizing the k band that makes driving unbearable. Every mile on the highways... BEEP!! The escort 9500 custom installed, portable, and max can auto learn that false reading from the drone while still detecting and reporting of real threats. Tested and proved on a 9500ci installed on a Chevy volt (yep a volt is still capable of speeding on city roads)

Plus the 9500 has a 3 year database of red light cameras, speed traps, and speed cameras, which the K40 does not, and for some reason believe that it is not important, when we have cameras going up all the time around us.

Now the rl360i is very good, but driving around town with it always going off, it is a boat anchor. Of course I am stating my area with radar drones. Some people might not have this in their area, but I have mentioned it for over 2 years now to k40 with no fix. Can it be fixed? Sure, they just need to tweak the software, but it will reduce the instant on/pop detection by a lot, due to the software mod requiring not to report the moment it picks up the drone and ensure it is on a second after it was originally picked up for a real threat, as if it was not there then it would be a dron

Now when the new 360i came out it had a mark to mute feature which would block out an area when one physically pushed the button on the remote, unlike the auto feature of the escort. This was a good feature, but it is not on the 360i's after the first few batches.

The second

Also I don't understand the second part of the radarguy statement? Are you guys at k40 modifying the bands to not report or just turning the k band off? You can pretty turn off the bands with any detector out there now. Now if you are going to modify a section of the band like the MidCity piece does, I found that it defeats the detection of the police k band radar guns here so you are getting a ticket, not to mention with the Distronic plus vehicles... when approaching a vehicle in front of you in traffic, the d+ signals bounce and reflect off the vehicle back towards you/detector that it false, because of the Doppler shift increases the original k band freq.

So I don't know what you are talking about there. I am not beating on you, but you know I have a lot of experience with k40 and pointed these issues out along time ago. I also understand patents are involved and you probably can't infringe on them, though you might want to look at paying up to play in the patent holders sandbox...

Again, this is from dealing with it in my area, an area which is unlike the rest of the usa, and I also understand that a month of sales in Florida is equal to a year of sales (or more) up here so it wont be high on the list of things to correct. This is also my POV, not gospel, but trying to keep it real for my fellow mbworld enthusiasts. And yes radarguy this was typed after I have been getting trashed while watching Monday night football in the back yard... I am retired... or tarded'

In k40's defense, because it could be taken out of text, is that my area is different from the rest of the states. The K40 is a great detector and I have done many of them, my area the police use a lot of K, and even some rural areas use x still, so that defeating the k band would utterly make any detector worthless.

What I do like about the k40 which no one has yet come out with a better way to integrate is the ease of distinguishing the threat via their 2 blue LEDs. Every other detector is trying to tell you what speed you are going, what frequency, etc.... the k40 simplifies it with the stealth installed lights so as not to try to overwhelm the driver with too much information. Left light is front alert, right is rear alert, both at the same time laser. All that without taking your eyes off the road.

I did notice that the new sl 231 platforms Distronic plus is on a different frequency and won't interfere with the radar unit.

Don't have enough time or space to address the FM-CW issues with newer cars such as BLIS , Distronic etc., but needless to say these are going to be issues on K band falsing for the near future.

As far as new units, either the remotes like the K40 or the Bel/Escort, the only unit that I would consider at this point is the Beltronics STIR-+. Why? it offers everything a user could want , Redlight cams, speed cams and unsurpassed radar detection. It can also be integrated with the LIs or the Zr4s, the former preferrable. It is GPS enabled and updateable. It cab be segged to allow for less falsing on Ka bands and it's performance far exceeds what K40 offers. It also has Autolearn and Truelock to lock out those annoying k falses we all see.

For windshield mounts, the current best is the Redline BS RDR which recently has beaten the V1 on many tests and with less falsing. Other alternative is the PASSPORT Max, which has all of the Stir-+ features in a windshield mount and is updateable online as well with a USB.

Have Escort 9500ci's installed in all three of our vehicles. Auto-learning GPS is something I cannot go without. You'll know on your daily commute that when your detector is going off, it isn't an automatic door or a radar mounted just to show your speed. Laser diffuser has saved me at least five times on the turnpike.

My installer was pushing the K40 360i, but I had such a terrible experience with the K40 Calibre in my Jeep a few years ago that I wouldn't give that company a cent. Was almost willing to put it in my wife's new QX80, but I know that she will lose the remote in about a week.
