How does your tranny behave in S mode?
Ever since I've gotten my ML63, in both S and C mode, the transmission starts off in 2nd gear. In S mode, it's supposed to start in 1st gear. In my case, to get it to start off from 1st in S, the car has to be driven aggressively (RPM has to exceed something like 3-3500). Another member here with a W211 E63, 220S, his car will always start in 1st, in S without the aggressive driving.
I doubt the difference between his car being an E and mine an ML has much to do with it. Same engine and tranny.
If any other ML63 owners could drive with their car in S and their IC set to the AMG screen (to monitor what gear it's in), and see if your car will start off in 1st without any aggressive driving, it would be very helpful.
P.S. After I shut the car off, it reverts back to the 2nd gear in S mode.

No matter how i drive it it always starts of in 1st in S mode.
I drive it in M mode most of the time anyway, its so much more fun and seems to give a much better indication of just how powerful the car is.

Just thought I'd update this thread. Dropped my car off at the dealer Monday AM and got it back today. I dropped it off for a suspension issue and while it was there I had them check out this issue. They updated the engine and transmission software and they corrected the issue. I never knew what I was missing out on. The wife is impressed too. Even the upshifts and downshifts seem to be quicker than I've ever seen them. It's pretty sweet.

RE: the suspension, every morning when cold, driving over even slight bumps would cause the suspension to make very loud squeaking noises. Very very noticeable and unattractive. They replaced the sway bars apparently. I'll find out tomorrow AM whether it's truly fixed or not.
