Brake Rotor Question re: holes...
A while back when I took my ML in for service, they warned me that the rotors were starting to get worn down a bit. Now they look like this:
As you can see, the drilled holes are completely gone now. The rears are fine and still look like this:
My MLs front rotors used to look like this:
Just recently I was at the dealer getting a suspension issue addressed, but my SA told me that it's perfectly normal and the holes in the rotors were designed to "fill in" like that.
I figured I'd ask the real experts and see what's really up as his answer sounded odd to me. TIA.

I think it must be time for new rotors. How much mileage? I recently replaced my rotors with brembo gt kit and while the holes were still perfectly evident the wear grooves starting to emerge and that was after 22,000kms and a lot of city driving
Seriously doubt that the holes were "designed" to be "filled in". Arent they there to assist in cooling? It amazes me the poor level of knowledge at MB service depts. Top tech guy at my dealer here in Aust did not even know what reflashing an ECU meant

It has 35,000 miles on it and I'm 99% sure we are still on the original rotors.
I wouldve thought my SA wouldve used this as an excuse for needing new rotors to get more $$$ out of me.
