Engine Oil

Hi guys, was wondering if someone knows or has experienced some regular engine oil consumption on the ML63's (mine is a 2007 with only 11k miles). I bought it when it was 9k miles and now the engine oil light came on so I checked and level is right at min.

The 63 engine is well known for having a decent appetite for engine oil. Dont know why. All i know is that in my ML i have topped it up several times over 27,000kms and in C63 i have topped it up also several times but it has only 16,000km on it. I have put about 3,000km on my SL and no oil top up yet.

I'm a non-AMG owner thus far, and these regular Mercedes engines seem to consume very little if any oil.

However, my reading here suggests it's probably normal for that wonderful 6.2 AMG.

Just buy a quart of the correct oil and carefully add some of it, to bring up that level.

Well I guess it is normal then. I am having it serviced since it has been a few months since I bought it and was not sure how long ago the previous owner had performed any service or how careful he was with it.

Thanks for your replies ...

Questions keep coming ...

Service people at Mercedes Benz recommended I change spark plugs and tires. Again, the vehicle has 11k miles ... so I said no to both changes and will try to do them later.

So as a rule of thumb, how ofther do you change these? tires might be a matter of how hard you drive but again, in average, how many miles can you go with stock tires? Do you guys rotate tires in this vehicle?

(car is not in the USA so parts are hard to get and very expensive)

RR Evoque Dynamic, Benz Valente (work hack)
My ML63 has done 50,000kms and it uses no oil at all. Ive only owned it for about 5000kms but I checked the dipstick when I bought it and again just the other day (5000kms later) and it still at the same spot.

I changed it anyway.

Took 10 litres of Mobil 1 OW40.

Very easy to do. Oil change was a snap.
