2001 ML55
Straight Pipe Exhaust

Has anyone tried to cut out the muffler and res. to run straight pipe on a 2001 ML55?
My ML55 is currently a paper weight in the front yard. The head gaskets blew and I am looking at $4k to fix. I bought a new car to drive to work and plan on using the ML as a boat hauler in Lake Havasu. No freeways or long drives. Just want it to sound like a race car. Will I lose power or torque?

What about any mercedes AMG 5.4? Do I need the back pressure? Or can I go straight pipe?

You can remove the middle box (muffler). You won't lose any power. Here's the video from someone who's done that (not me):
