ML63 Blown Engines limited to 07???

ML63 Blown Engines limited to 07???
I'm looking into buying a ML63 but the possibility of a blown engine obviously scares me. My mechanic mentioned piston problems but he was not sure if the issues were limited to a certain year or not. Seems, at least from what I've read, the issues are coming from this first year of production???
I know some will say just buy a 7/100 but if I can avoid the issue with an 08' I'd would rather spend a little more on the vehicle.

S63 Coupe and GLES 63
I had a 2007 ML 63 and beat the hell out of it, it burned oil but never had any problems. I traded it for the 2010 ML 63 it had 30k miles on 2007 it was a great truck. I towed my 26 foot formula with it with trailer it wieghed over 5k pounds. Truck was great, 2010 much better.

If you did a search on this forum, I'm sure you've read about my '07 engine replacement. Maybe a fluke, but at a replacement cost of 70K+ to replace a 63 engine it does give you pause... My CPO warranty was about to expire so instead of spending the big bucks for a 7/100, I bought a BMW 550ix. Not quite as versatile as a ML but a lot of fun. I'd strongly recomend an extented warranty with any AMG product. Just too expensive to make catastrophic repairs.

Aparently it has something to do with camshafts breaking and cars that it's happened to have had around 30,000 klms.
It's not a 2007 year model thing either, has happened on c63's which are +08
I'm flying solo on my ML63. It's done over 65000 klms, has a renntech intake and a tune as well.
If it breaks ill fix it.
