Has anyone ever tried to fit an ML500 W164 with the M113 Supercharged 5.4 ltr? I know the G55 has that engine but the W164 is a gorgeous car, it would be awesome. The 6.2 in the ML63 doesn't have the rumble the old one had. I've heard the G55 and it sounds like an SLR, I would imagine due to size the same exhaust system could be fitted from the G55.

Jesus Christ listen to THAT I wish my E55 sounded like that.

So has it been done? I know people put NA 5.4s into 4.3s so why not this, it's the same engine. M113, isn't it just an ECU issue?

Put a custom exhaust on an ML63 and you will love the noise.

What u propose above is a nightmare job.

The gearbox in the ML63 is a 7 speed as well, not a 5 speed.

The G55 is ne of the worst handling cars ever. Plus the slack in the throttle response is just awful. Its like a turbocharger with a lot of lag rather than an 'always on' supercharger. However there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it is one of the sweetest sound exhausts in AMG history.

But the ML63 exhaust can be very easily tweaked to upgrade the toughness. Although you will never have the supercharger whine, unless you give Weistec a call....

Who said anything about an ML63? I said dropping an M113 Kompressor into a >>ML500<<. It's not a nightmare job, the mounts are the same and I think the ECU would still work.

Weird because I drove a relative's car in the UK last Summer and it was pretty responsive, not like my E55 but I'd imagine the weight has alot to do with that. The "lag" isn't so much the lack of engine response as it is the car picking up and going. The car has horrible aero and 2.5 tons. The look of the thing is MEAN though and the sound, like you said it's one of the best sounding AMGs made along with the SLR.

My question wasn't directed at the ML63 which would be a nightmare and a waste to convert as they're still valuable and a great car. My question was regarding the ML500. They're really losing value now and the M113 5 ltr in the ML500 is in the same "family" as the Kompressor and I've seen people do C43 to C55 conversion using the same ECU so it begs the questions of how difficult it is. Although the ML isn't as mean and military as the G it's still a very sinister car.
