2007 ML63 amg low beam right bulb
My "low beam right" message got on and I need to change the low beam right bulb. I looked through the manual and it says NOT to change the XENON bulb yourself and only to do it at the dealership? No instructions that I can find to help me replacing the bulb myself. Can anyone help in pointing some directions regarding if I can replace the bulb myself? And what exactly is the bulb type that I need?
My car is ML63 AMG 2007. Thanks!

The bulb type will be listed in your owners Manuel. My ML is currently being serviced, routine maintenance. I noticed the passenger side low xenon bulb was producing a purple light instead of the bright white. I found the bulb and it looked easy enough to replace, but my independent mechanic whom I trust said it may not be the bulb. I did notice over rather weekend the bulb was flickering and even went out a few times. No message that it was burned out. My mechanic said it may be the actuator or something else. I did remove the bulb from the housing, fairly easy and it looked OK but will see what the actual diagnosis is tomorrow when I pick up the car.

Thanks for the reply!
Here's what the manual says:
Headlamps:
Low beam H7 (55 W)
Bi-Xenon headlamps*:
Low beam1 D2S-35 W
Then followed with a foot note:
Vehicles with Bi-Xenon* headlamps: Do not replace the Bi-Xenon bulbs yourself. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Light Truck Center.
I'm guessing the H7 bulb is for other ML's (350/500/etc.)? As my dealer told me my car uses Xenon bulb and it's a whooping $250 to replace one bulb! I found some bulb online that seems the right type, cost is just $40, does this seem right? http://www.philipsxenon.com/philips-...id-bulb-p-1265
Looking forward to hearing more back. Thanks!

I replaced mine today, i bought 2 D1S lights on ebay for 28$ CA - 6000K.
Replaced both so the colors is the same. Not to hard to do, took about 15 minutes and I'm not a mechanic. My car is still under extended warranty but that is not covered.
D1S 35 watt 6000K looks better than the original.
Original OSRAM on the car is 4300K.
Will see how long it lasts. If you do it yourself, you might need to disconnect the battery, I didnt but I removed the key from the ignition.
Tricky part is to put it back on, I plugged the wire that goes to bulb before putting back in. I tried at first without the wire but could not do it.

Glad you were able to replace the bulb yourself. I had mine done at my independent shop as I was having other work done. My independent shop has always been honest and fair and I trust him. I guess if you can afford these vehicles, than it is going to cost a bit more to maintain them.

Sounds promising. I'll probably cheap out and get some really cheap ones off ebay and get this done myself soon. I can't believe there are $5 bulbs with the same specifications. What's the worst a cheap bulb can do other than lasting much shorter than the OEM bulbs? The way I see it, even if I have to change them 3 times a year, I'm still saving over $200. I can't afford expensive repairs now. Last time I had my passenger side mirror broken and was quoted for over $400 for repair so I ordered a $20 mirror from ebay and replaced it myself after a few hours struggling... but that's off topic.

Hi, just wondering why you went with D1S instead of D2S as stated in the manual? I'm about to have mine changed, so please reply.
Thanks.

I found a pair on Ebay for $10/pair. Too good to be true? My truck is coming out of storage next week. Anyone have bad luck with bulbs off of Ebay?
