Used ML63 2010 - ext. warranty
(I hadn't seen this AMG section, will post here instead of the generic ML one!)
hi!
I'm buying a used ML63 2010 from a friend of mine who rented the car for the last 3 years and who was the only owner. He drives like a grandma, and the car only has 40,000 Miles. I will have almost a year of remaining warranty, but i was wondering if the extended one is worth it.
It is no cheap, almost $5k for 2 years.
I'm convinced the car is A1, so I'm going more for the no extended warranty.
What do you guys think? Are those V8 picky? I mean, they've been on the market for a while, outside of drinking more than me when I was 20, do they have any major issue I should be concern about?
thanks for your help! look forward to participate in this forum like i'm use to do on NASIOC.
cheers!

after digging a bit, I found that the engine has some issue with the head bolts.

Well after spending 2 hours reading thread about headbolts, i'm re-thinking as whether or not i'll buy the ML afterall.
I've contacted by email a few dealer around to get their feedback and if this is cover by the warranty. But at this stage I'm really hesitating.

2007 ML63 AMG
I bought a used 2007 at Christmas 2011 that had around 35000 miles on it. Thank god I bought an extended warranty.
Within the first 6 months I had to have a transfer case and a throttle position sensor replaced, under warranty. I have not driven for 4 months but have been starting it every weekend to run a while after taking it out of the garage where I am storing it. And it is leaking again. Not impressed with a vehicle that was supposedly Mercedes certified pre owned.
So buy the warranty or don't buy the vehicle would be my STRONG advice. Good luck with your decision.

Here is the link to another thread in this MBWorld Forum that addressed the same issue, that I think you will find interesting.
I made a comment in it about my reasoning for the importance of purchasing M-B Extended Limited Warranty a tthe end of my 3-year lease when I bought my 2007 ML63 from M-B Financial, even though it was very expensive. So far, thankfully, I have not had to use it.

hi folks,
Here's an interesting one. My engine serial number finish with 056596. It's a 2010 engine. I've asked my service director at the local dealership, and while he wasn't aware or this issue, he did ask MB Canada and he was told that my engine is not part of the TSB.
weird as it falls under the "range" flying around in various forums (PL, here...)
While some part of me tells me he (or MB) is lying, I'm also thinking that "the internet" is not always true. Its in fact the reverse.
Anyway, I have an email from him saying my engine is not affected. Next time i'm in his shop I'll ask if that would be covered by the warranty and after.
thanks
