Ml 55 will fitting smaller diameter wheels damage transmission

Hi I have purchased a set of snow tyres for my ml 55
Could any one tell me if changing from 285/50/18
to 225/55/17 damage my transmission in any way as the winter tyres will have a smaller rolling radius?

No, the change in radius is negligable, the problem is that you got some very skinny tires. Tires that skinny should be used in snow over a couple feet deep. Be careful when turning because you will have a major decrease in traction.

Thanks for replying
And the advice and information, I thought it would be ok, but someone had told me that all Mercedes are prone to transmission problems if fitted with the wrong size tyres !
Thanks again
