Oil Usage 1qt/1k

Should a 2009 ML63 burn about 1qt of oil for 1000 miles. Dealer says its normal....

No it's not. You make have worn piston rings. Here is one bad aid solution of running a much thicker engine oil (like 5w-50, 15w-50)

I burn through about 1 qt every 4000-5000 miles.

I burn no oil at all. A proper motor should not burn any oil.
