New Member looking at my 1st Merc

Hello, I just joined the forum. I am thinking about buying my first Mercedes before the end of the year. (2014)

I am in the market for a smaller SUV and have narrowed my choices to an ML63 or a Cayenne Turbo. I'm looking at a 2009-2010 ML63 or a 2008-2009 Cayenne Turbo. They seem to be around the same price range and offer the same performance and options.

I was hoping to get some info on the pros and cons of at least the Merc on here. I have read up on the reliability problems with the 2006-2007 models and was hoping by 2009 most of the bugs had been worked out. Plus, I like the restyling a bit better on the 2009+ models.

I was looking for models under 50k miles with towing capabilities. I found a few Cayenne turbos and a couple ML63s in my price range.

It seems like the aftermarket is a bit better for the Cayennes though. I have only been able to find Renntech and Brabus performance parts for the MLs where there seems to be endless tuning capabilities for the Cayenne. Additionally, I am astonished by the costs of some of the parts. I found a package from Renntech for $15,500 w/ intake, exhaust, ecu, and tranny upgrade but only a 60 HP increase. Seems crazy to me. (about $260/horse).

I imagine there are other shops making parts that I am currently unaware of though.

If anyone can offer some insight on why the ML63 is a better option or vice versa I would be HIGHLY appreciative.

Thank you in advance.

I would disagree, aftermarket for the ML63s is away better and youc an get a lot more power and performance for a lot less money. Eurocharged is the best tuner for the 63s and their prices are way better than anything else not the market.

I smoke cayenne turbos all l the time effortlessly with just a few key strategic mods. Go through all my old reviews, but essentially all you need is AFE pro dry filter w/ carbon delete, resonator bypass, V5 Eurocharged tune, lightweight forgestar wheels & lighter tires, 2piece brake rotors.

If you do those you will smoke nearly anything out there. The only better car would be a BiTurbo ML63 with identical above setup and turbo tune (which makes stupid power).

Thank you for the info. I will check out their site.
I may look at a 2009 ML63 after Thanksgiving.
Thanks again for the advice.

EUROCHARGED

So I went to the EuroCharged website to look for ML63 mods. The only thing on there were brake pads, downpipes, and a tune for the 2012+ models.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Thanks.
