2000 ML55 tire search

My wife drives a 2000 ML55. I am trying to find two tires. I replaced the front ones last year with Nitto 285/50R18s, but I can't find those any more. Does anyone have an affordable solution?

ML55, 993, C230, Honda Insight, HD FXDL

285/50-18's have become virtually impossible to get here in the U.S. Alternative is to go 285/55 but still limited availability. I just purchase 2 OEM Continentals from www.4x4tyres.co.uk. Was very seamless and delivery to U.S. was within 3-4 days. They have other brands also available in the OEM size.

I just bought a 2001 ML55 AMG and it had 255/55/18's on it and I just bought 4 new ones same size. Bad decision??

To do this, did you have to change out your original rims?
Looking for tire options as well. How do you like your new set? Drive same? Look good?
Can you post some pics? Would you buy them again? Recommend?
