Just Bought 2000 ML55- first step recommends?
Hey Gang,
Just picked up an ML55. I'll be getting it on Sunday.
It's in decent shape, clean, no accidents, regularly maintained until about 2 years ago but driven barely 2k miles in those 2 years.
I've baselined a lexus and an audi before but can any of you AMGurus tell me your ideal checklist for getting this car freshened up- fluid changes, filters, etc etc. I'm sure some of you have a ritual or procedure you use. Any recommends for oil weight on an AMG with 150k on the clock?
Pros
straight body
no leaks
ac works
new brakes/rotors
all lights work
no dash lights on
shifts smooth
no cracks in leather.
Cons
Small whine from either power steering pump or AC condenser
Rear door lock on driver side doesn't open with button.
Rear bumper is trashed
Front driver mirror is cracked/taped
tires are toast.
I have read about the OEM tire size woes and really don't see much on this forum with solid options in 2018-2019????
Is there a thread somewhere with various wheel and tire set-ups???

01 ML55 AMG, 05 E55 AMG, 02 SLK32 AMG
On my 2000 and 2001 ML55 I'm running 275/55/18 Kumho Ecsta STX w/ 20mm spacers all around. No complaints with them. Also still using 0W-40 Mobil 1 on both, one has 93k and the other has 173k. If I were you I would change out all the fluids. I had done that when I got both these 55s and used the following:
ATF: Fuchs Titan 4134
Front and Rear Differential: Mobil 1 75w-90 synthetic gear LS
Transfer Case: Febi Bilstein 001989210310 (this was believed to still be 236.10 spec fluid so I opted for that)
Brake Fluid: Pentosin Super DOT 4
Coolant: FUCHS MAINTAIN FRICOFIN G48 (Blue)
Power Steering: Genuine Mercedes Fluid
