2008 ML63 AMG - Should I buy?

I am considering buying a 2008 ML63 AMG with 72k miles. Looks to be in good/great condition, however...

Headbolts have not been replaced and owner reports no knowledge of the camshaft/lifers being checked. Owner reports no loss of coolant and never any ticking/knocking sounds and appears to have kept up with the oil changes regularily.

I currently drive an E55 and may be overly hesitant as I am used to the M113k's reputation and then go read about the M156.
I do 95% of all my own work, but am hesitant to whether I should/would take on the headbolts.

I think I could get it for around $12k-$13k with some negotiation.

Should I go for it?

For what it's worth, I was in the exact same position last year; coming from a 2002 e55 to a 2007 ML63. I have had no problems whatsoever. Full disclosure: the previous owner did the headbolts. If the owner never had it done, I wouldn't plan on buying yours without factoring in that job. It is fairly inexpensive nowadays; outside of the dealer.

If you know the history of the headbolts and you won't mind shelling out $$$$ to get it fixed then purchase by all means, but can't get emotionally attached to something that your going to regret later. They come around far and few, but I wouldn't be inclined to buy it. Come to think about about four years ago I was at my dealers and I seen a 2009 ML 63 roll in...I asked a salesperson about it, and it was the headbolts (not from salesperson)They wanted 20k as is, but jumped the price to 30k to fix and one yr warranty engine! Of course I walked away. Just my humble opinion.

It's a good price, i'd just advise holding out for a 2009 and up.
