Gauge Cluster Fix (Stepper Motor Replacement)
Hello All,
Even though this forum has for the most part gone dark, I figured this may help someone who may go looking in the future.
Symptoms of failing stepper motors:
- Vibrating needle for any of the four (RPM, Tach, Fuel, Temp) at start up and shut down
- Gauges not responding instantly (delay on key turn or while driving)
Stepper motor part # 91255002 (VDO, used by Mercedes, VW)
I purchased mine on Ebay, they go for about $10-13
Video Below Documenting the process of replacement, I have another video as well that shows how to for removal/installation of the cluster from vehicle.
