Vacuum Leak? 2001 ML55 AMG

I recently picked up a 2001 ML55 AMG with 71k miles. It has an issue where it has an unusually high idle in only park and neutral. It will also occasionally develop a repetitive rpm surge/pulsation at certain speeds. There are no obvious issues upon removing the engine cover, but I will be doing some more testing tonight. Any experience with anything like this or any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It is best to connect to Star / Das, Xentry / diagnostics. If there is no error in the DTC, the actual value section will detect the problem. Adaptive values may need to be reset.
Without diagnostics, you will not be able to determine the values or functionality of the components. Note that only the engine temperature sensor can show incorrect values and based on these values the choke will be connected ... not to mention other sensors such as the fuel pressure sensor, the engine idle regulator and more.
Without diagnostics, you can only try to disconnect the battery, preferably overnight, and charge the battery. In the morning, connect the battery / it must be fully charged! / Start the car and let the engine run for 15 minutes - do not touch the accelerator pedal. If the car does not have a fault, the engine speed should be OK and the new values written. However, if there is a fault in the motor that is active, disconnecting the battery will not eliminate it and a connection to the diag is necessary

thanks, There has never been a check engine light on. Is a check engine light what you mean by a fault in the motor showing? The vehicle runs fine when under throttle, it seems to only have an issue when coasting or idling. Thanks!

Problem Solved

Upon going through the engine bay once more, I could hear a light hiss from the rear of the engine and discovered an improperly secured vacuum line that simply needed to be reconnected. She pulls a bit harder now, and is running great.
