Question on engine compatibility, my 2012 GL350 went boom boom back in January with just 80k miles... I'm not ready to just let her go, it's the perfect vehicle for us and now I know about the oil pickup issue I should be able to avoid another boom boom event.
There is a 2007 GL320 CDI with non-repairable title local for a very good price, ad says it runs and drives and I see no damage. What kind of issues would I run into doing an engine swap into my GL350? Everything I can find says the engine is the same(OM642 DE30 3.0 L V6 turbo), but there is some DEF stuff that's not on the donor.
For you that are more familiar with these engines, is this a doable project? I've been searching for a motor replacement for 6 months and this is the only option besides a R350 a missed out on.
I desperately want to bring this baby back to life!
