To those who are having trouble sourcing parts to fix the rear parking brakes on W163's!
(up here in Ontario Canada, to pass a 'safety' these things need to work)

Mercedes no longer makes the parts we need, none on eBay or anywhere else, but due to the long-past disastrous relationship with Chrysler in which the Mopar folks benefited/stole from "The Best Or Nothing At All" - we still have parts!
It's been an uphill battle of sourcing parts, but even Chrysler gave some of our parts technology to Datsun(Nissan) for their "vehicles".
Here are several of them which share identical drums, springs, spreader wedge, adjustment screws etc.:
Chrysler - 300, Magnum, Pacifica, Challenger, Charger, Charger-Pursuit, Charger-Hellcat
Nissan - Armada, Titan

Our part numbers (for SEO reference/Google), which Mercedes no longer makes:
163 420 0073 - A1634200073 - Tightening/adjustment screws
163 420 0023 - A1634200023 - Spreader wedge a.k.a. 'Sprag Unit' (fully discontinued by Mercedes)
163 420 0082 - A1634200082 - Bolt (Parts Kit)
Applicable for 99-05 ML270/ML320/ML350/ML430/ML500 and the ML55 AMG.

So before you lose hope saving these iconic (Jurassic) first-Mercedes-SUV's, first AMG SUV's, be sure to start looking at Chrysler parts!
Chrysler likes to call the A1634200023 a 'Parking brake lever/kit'
This had to be posted, as there has never been any mention of this on any forum; I wouldn't dare type Chrysler on this forum if I didn't have to.

Very best all!
Jeremy
