2007 ML63 Rear SAM reset? Test?

2007 ML63 Rear SAM reset? Test?
About a year ago, I replaced the rear SAM in my ML63. All functionality was restored to the electrical components it controls. I also sealed the right rear taillight with silicon as I was advised that can leak causing your SAM to go out.
Recently the battery died completely. Replaced battery and now SAM is acting like it's bad. Rear turn signal, hazards, brake lights and backup cam are all out. Two questions...
1. Can the SAM be tested?
2. After a total loss of power, does it need to be "rebooted" ??

Did you replace it for a brand new one or for a used one ?
And yes they can reprogram the rear SAM if you have some bug after replacing it.
